Delete your account

This page explains how to request deletion of your ChristLumen account and the data attached to it. It applies to the ChristLumen mobile app and to christlumen.com, both published by ChristLumen.

This is the fastest route: deletion is immediate and needs no action from us.

1. Open the app and go to your profile.
2. Open the Settings tab, then Privacy.
3. Tap “Delete my account”.
4. Confirm. Your account and the data listed below are erased at once, with no grace period.

If you have uninstalled the app or can no longer sign in, write to contact@christlumen.com from your account email address, or quote the phone number you signed up with. We verify that it is you, then delete within thirty days at most.

Permanently, with no recoverable backup:

• Your profile: name, phone number, email address, photo, gender, date of birth, city and country.
• Your denomination and ministry, where you had entered them.
• Your church membership and any roles you held there.
• Your messages, private conversations and their attachments.
• Your stories, together with their views and reactions.
• Your likes, comments, saved content, Bible highlights and bookmarks.
• Your device sessions: notification tokens, device name and IP address.

These are no longer tied to you — your identity is detached from them — but they remain:

• Payment, donation and receipt records, which accounting law requires us to keep. They no longer carry your name.
• Content you published on behalf of a church: it belongs to the church, not to your account.
• Chat rooms you created, so that the other participants do not lose their conversation.
• Files sent in conversations, erased from our servers one hundred days after they were sent.

You can delete your account whatever the status of your church. If there is another owner, the church carries on with them. Otherwise it is handed to its highest-ranking leader — an administrator, failing that a pastor, failing that a moderator; at equal rank, the longest-serving — who becomes its owner and is notified. If there is no leader, the church is deleted along with its content, and its members are removed from it and notified. A sub-church that has its own leader is not taken with it: it becomes independent.
